Our Mission
Abhaile Arís was set up and funded by ADM/CPA to pursue the following mission:'to enhance the welfare, development and social integration of ex-republican prisoners, displaced people and their families in the Donegal area'.
The organisation has identified seven specific objectives, which were set out in its three-year development plan. The wording of one objective was subsequently amended. As currently worded, the objectives are to:
- Promote the education of group members and improve the employability of members through training and development
- Provide a facility for social and recreational interaction in an atmosphere conducive to the physical and mental well being of the members
- Provide counselling and advice services to members
- Identify and implement social economy projects with a view to these projects becoming sustainable
- Promote the self-development of group members and restore their self-confidence and self-esteem
- Improve the public perception of group members by countering the misinformation associated with their past, and allow them to fully participate in society
- Invest in Abhaile Arís human resources (management, staff and volunteers) in terms of training and development to allow them to carry out their duties effectively and to provide a high quality service to members
