Our Mission

Abhaile Arís was set up and funded by ADM/CPA to pursue the following mission:
'to enhance the welfare, development and social integration of ex-republican prisoners, displaced people and their families in the Donegal area'.

The organisation has identified seven specific objectives, which were set out in its three-year development plan. The wording of one objective was subsequently amended. As currently worded, the objectives are to:

1.Promote the education of group members and improve the employability of members through training and development.

2.Provide a facility for social and recreational interaction in an atmosphere conducive to the physical and mental well being of the members.

3.Provide counselling and advice services to members.

4.Identify and implement social economy projects with a view to these projects becoming sustainable.

5.Promote the self-development of group members and restore their self-confidence and self-esteem.

6.Improve the public perception of group members by countering the misinformation associated with their past, and allow them to fully participate in society.

7.Invest in Abhaile Arís human resources (management, staff and volunteers) in terms of training and development to allow them to carry out their duties effectively and to provide a high quality service to members.
